Okay... Yeah I know, the Hawks are the first playoff team to come in with less wins than losses. And yes, in their nine losses the average margin of victory was 21 points. Yeah, yeah, yeah...
So I figure this will never happen, but I'm going to float it anyway (step by step)...
#1. The Seattle Seahawks host the New Orleans Saints (the reigning World Champion) at the home of the 12th man tomorrow at 4:30 EST... The Hawks don't have a chance, right? They come out smelling like roses and squeak out the win...
#2. Sunday afternoon at 4:30 EST the Green Bay Packers play the Philadelphia Eagles in Philly and pull off a road victory (entirely possible given the Eagles' health concerns and the strength of the Packers defense)...
#3. This scenario puts Seattle in Chicago to face Da Bears while Green Bay moves down the east coast to square off against the top team in the NFL this season, the Atlanta Falcons...
#4. Now, don't forget, last October Seattle traveled to Soldier Field and got after poor Jay Cutler for 6 sacks and pulled off a 23-20 road victory. The confidence that win means to the Hawks puts them over the top in another squeaker win only this time its for the right to play for the NFC Championship...
#5. Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers matches the Falcons' Matty Ice score for score and ends up in the lead when the game ends...
#6. This sets up the NFC title game in the home of the 12th man once again (Division winner trumps better record by wild card team in determining home field advantage)...
#7. Once this stage has been realized the Seahawks' confidence is soaring...
Anything can happen!
I can see this happening. Just wish Pete the Cheat wasn't coaching them.
ReplyDeleteSeattle vs Kansas City in the Super Bowl... lowest ratings...Ever! LOL
Pete the cheat??? Reggie Bush??? What?
ReplyDeleteIf its the Bush deal I've gotta say that there is no way any college can keep track of what their "student" athletes are doing on the side. Reggie screwed up so you punish the school? You denigrate the coach? There were two parties that needed to pay for Reggie's under the table dealings, Reggie Bush and the agent(s) he dealt with. Make those people ineligible to be involved in the NFL and the whole problem clears up. Cam Newton and his dad (like Cam didn't know what was going on) is another one but the NCAA didn't follow through... I wonder why.
Don't get me started on how the NCAA and its lackeys operate...
Pete's a rah rah guy and I kinda like the motivation factor he brings to the game. I can think of a few NASCAR drivers that could use some Carrol-like motivation...
Thanks Gene!
Golly gee!
ReplyDeleteStep 1 is under our belt! The Hawks pull out the victory over the reigning World Champion New Orleans Saints! Down 10 early, they wouldn't give up. They made mistakes but kept the faith! A real nail-biter! 41 - 36!
11 point home underdogs, now the Seahawks are 8 wins and 9 losses on the season! LOL
On to tomorrow's NFC Wild Card game for Step 2!
Go Packers, Beat Philly!
I could see that scenario happening, especially because Jay Cutler is inconsistent. I'm not sold on him. Never was. Never will be. He's this generation's Elvis Grbac. (Great fantasy numbers, but when you have to count on him to win a game, he doesn't.) I could easily see the Seahawks vs. Packers in the NFC Championship game, but with the Packers winning.
ReplyDeletejon,
ReplyDeleteYa know life's a crap shoot. You can do everything you can to prepare for something, take every precaution, but at the end of the day there's really no sure thing. That's why these head coaches sleep in their offices and brainstorm the rest of the time... They're trying to narrow the reality gap.
So here's to the Seahawks. Like the song says... Go down gamblin', you may never have to go!
Thanks jon!
Okay... Green Bay held up their end of the bargain. Step 2 and 3 have been realized. On to the tough ones... Steps 4 and 5...
ReplyDeleteI need road playoff victories by both the Pack in Atlanta and the Hawks in Chicago (Concerning the Seahawks, once again, against all odds, talking heads, etc.).
Both the Falcons and the Bears are rested after a week long break. How much does that really play in?
We'll see!
Magnificent web site. Lots of helpful info here. I'm sending it to some pals ans additionally sharing in delicious. And of course, thank you in your effort!
